REGION 1 TAG SAVER PROGRAM INFORMATION
The purpose of the tag saver program is to make things easier on both the entrant and the show holder. It provides a way for entrants to reuse their tags rather than having to create new ones for each show and also a way for show holders to keep accurate records that ease the entry process and the typing of results. However, ease of use is dependent upon the proper use. Here are some helpful tips.
Assign each horse a unique number beginning with your tag saver ID #. The correct format of the number should be 000-111 or 000111 where 000 is your unique tag saver ID and 111 is your models unique number. (ie: my tag saver ID is 164. My model "TJ" is number 001 so his tag saver number is 164-001)
For low numbered models, place 0 or 00 in front of the models number as I did above with TJ. Many database and show entry programs sort numbers automatically and the addition of 0 or 00 keeps the numbers in the correct order. With this addition the list will be sorted 001, 002, 003...010, 011, 012...020, 021, 022 and so on. Without it the list will be sorted 1, 10, 11...2, 20, 21...3, 30, 31... This simple addition on your part makes things much easier on the showholder!
Don't change numbers for every show. Keep a list that has each model in your showstring listed along with it's correct breed, gender, finish, and tag saver number. Many show holders keep records of models entered so they don't have to re-type everything for the next show. Changing numbers makes things confusing for you and them. For an example of a list that is easy to use please see below. If you sell a model then that tag # is available again so feel free to reuse it. A showholder should always double check their records against submitted lists to make sure there are no changes from the previous year.
Separate your OF, CM, Resin, and China models on your list. It makes it easier for you to find a specific model and easier on the show holder when they are entering your models into the classes or the results. For example, my OF models are #'s 001-099, CM are 100-199, AR are 200-299, and China are 300-399.
When entering a show, make sure that each model has the appropriate tag. Having the wrong tag on your model is even more confusing than having no tag at all and it can also affect you long term if your model places first or second and you decide to take it to NAN. Each NAN entry is cross checked against the show results so if your model Billy Bob placed 1st in it's class but had Jimmy's tag then NAMHSA will have no record of Billy Bob winning and he will not be able to enter!
Below is a copy of my tag saver list that I keep on file. As you can see, each model has a place for it's tag saver number, name, breed, gender, original mold, and notes. I have also divided up my models by type with numbers 001-099 reserved for OF, 100-199 reserved for CM, and so on. While the original mold and notes columns may not be necessary on your list I find them handy on mine since I have a lousy memory and tend to forget the names I gave to each model, especially in cases like my La Reina's, I have 3 of them and all are overo's!
